Nike LA Influencer Kits

In response to the growing trend of using innovative sustainable materials in packaging, Nike LA embarked on a mission to revolutionize their influencer outreach program. With a focus on creating a sustainable package that had a photogenic reveal, we set out to design an unforgettable unboxing experience for influencers receiving their latest gear, all while using sustainable materials.

Role: Structural Packaging Designer
Client: Nike LA
Studio: Guacamole Airplane

Process

To uphold Nike’s iconic brand identity while incorporating sustainability, we explored packaging solutions capable of accommodating various shoe sizes alongside apparel and accessories. After extensive research and prototyping, we landed on using corn starch foam as the primary cushioning material due to its biodegradable nature, ensuring minimal environmental impact. Additionally, the team chose to use carbon negative algae ink for the graphics, further aligning with their commitment to sustainable practices.

Outcome

The culmination of this endeavor resulted in a segmented unboxing experience that not only resonated with influencers but also embodied Nike LA’s dedication to sustainability. By integrating corn starch foam and algae ink, the packaging not only provided optimal protection for the products but also conveyed a powerful narrative of environmental stewardship. This innovative two-compartment system not only met the client’s objectives but also set a new standard for sustainable influencer packaging within the industry.
